Here is a alternative list of some tournament play that I'd like to see played at men's club or on Saturday & Sunday games.

Better Ball of Blind Partners
After all players have teed off, the pro shop staff will draw partners. Winners will be determined by scoring the best net ball per hole of the partners.

Low gross in flights

Gross score in each flight. Play will be from following tees. Flights determined by USGA index.
Championship                     0.0 – 8.0          Blue
1st Flight                             8.1 – 13.0        Blue
2nd Flight                            13.1 – 20.0      White
3rd Flight                             20.1 above       White

One NET best ball and One GROSS Best Ball of foursome:
Two different scores must be used. One player’s ball cannot be used for both net and gross scores.

Individual play
Gross and net, full handicap for the net division
April 9 - 10

Two person chapman
Both players tee off, players will then hit partners ball. Players then choose which one ball to play and alternate from there until ball is holed.
25% of team handicap will be used for team score

1-2-3 Net Foursomes
1st 6 holes score 1 best ball
2nd 6 holes score 2 best balls
Last 6 holes score 3 best balls.

Three, Two, One
A 4 man team will count their three net best balls on the par threes, two net best balls on the par fours and one best net ball on the part fives to come up with a team score.

Holes 1-6 will be modified scotch
Holes 7-12 will be best ball
Holes 13-18 will be scramble.
25% of combined team handicap will be used for the team score

Modified Scotch – Both players tee off. Determine who hit better shot, player whose tee shot is not chosen hits 2nd shot. Alternate shot from there till holed

Blind Holes Tournament
Rewards stead ply and those with a little luck. After all players have left the 1st hole, a blind draw determines which 9 holes of the 18 played will count toward everyones total score, the other 9 will be crossed out, so the players have no knowledge of which holes count until they complete their rounds. ½ of course handicaps are used to compute net totals.

Players choose five clubs to play with during the entire round. Scored at net.
 

Most 3’s, 4’s, 5’s
Net score play
Player use full course handicaps, taking strokes as designated on the score card.
Winners are determined by who scores the most 3’s, 4’s and 5’s.

Chicago
Player accumulates points based on schedule to overcome hurdle. The player who clears his hurdle by the most points wins. If no one clears, the player closest to zero wins. Bonus for player clearing hurdle.

Season Long Match Play Tournament

$10 entry
Pay top 4 places. 1st – 250, 2nd – 175, 3rd – 112.5 and 4th - 112.5

Format: Match play at 100% handicap.
Single elimination.
Each match must be completed within the following timeframe.
Any matches not completed will be decided by a coin flip.
Heads to top of bracket, Tails to bottom of bracket.

Round 1 – June 22
Round 2 – July 20
Round 3 – August 10
Round 4 – August 24
Round 5 – September 7
Round 6 – September 21
(Based on 64 players)

Alternate Match Play Format
48 spots
16 in championship flight
Championship flight played from Blue Tees
All matches played on consecutive weekends
1st match on Saturday
2nd on Sunday
At the end of the weekend there will be four participants remaining.
Saturday of the second week will match the four remaining players
Sunday of the 2nd week will be a 36 hole final to determine champion

All other flights will consist of 8 players
All flights play from White Tees
All matches will be played in 3 days on consecutive weekends
The first two matches will be played on Saturday and Sunday of the first week.
Finals will be on the Saturday of the 2nd week.
Flights established by handicap indexes
Championship flight pays 4 places
Other flights pay 2 places

USGA Match play rules will be in effect.
Following local rules will apply
Players may play a nine hole match if both players agree
Players may agree to match scorecards if not playing together, however there must be at least two other players to attest the score.
Matches must use the most current handicap revision available for each player.

Season long Eclectic Tournament
Each player turns in scorecards over the year.
Best score on each hole over the year counts towards final score.
Players with lowest scores wins

Ladder Tournament
Ladder Rules

  1. Beginning ladder positions determined by year end USGA Indexes
  2. Anybody joining after first of year starts at the bottom. Must have handicap to challenge.
  3. Each player improve his ladder position by challenging and scoring a lower net score than the other players challenged that are in a higher position on the ladder.
  4. A player challenging and having a lower net score than the challenged player higher on the ladder will move ahead of the challenged players position.
  5. A player has 5 free challenges where he may challenge any player of any rank above him. After the 5 free challenges are used up a player may only challenge up to 4 rungs above his current position. (i.e., 8th ranked player may only challenge players ranked 7th, 6th and 5th and the 4th positions..
  6. When 2 or more players challenge and beat (by scoring a lower net score) another player, the challenger that was previously higher on the ladder will remain higher than the others. (i.e. position 10 and 13 both challenge position 5 and beat him. Position 10 challenger will be higher on the ladder than position 15 challenger.)
  7. A player in a lower ladder position will move above a higher position player if he challenges and beats an interim position player that the higher position player did not challenge and beat. (i.e., if position 10 and 12 both challenged and beat position 8, position 12 also challenged and beat position 9, and position 10 did not: then position 12 player will move above position 10 player.

Net player of the year
Awarded to player that has the lowest combined net score of the four Majors.

Old guy
Awarded to senior (60 years or older) with the lowest net scores in the Majors.
